Day 7: Pizza Sunday

Lazy Sunday in Tuscany waiting for our friends Gina and Susan to arrive from the States.

The birthday boy enjoys a lazy day.

Gina and Susan are finally here--our group is complete!

After some more pool time, it is pizza for dinner. Il Villino has its own authentic pizza oven.

Victor and Mari are the property managers at Il Villino. Here Victor is preparing the pizza oven. The fire has to be started 3 hours before cooking can begin.

While Victor tends the oven, Mike and Mark have prepared the tomato sauce, grated the parmesan, and prepared the topping.

Tim and I set the table. Tim's mouth is watering!

All pizza preparation takes place oven-side. Here Mark is rolling out the first pizza crust.

Pizza number one is ready--Victor loads it up on the pizza spatula.

 Hungry group ready for pizza!

Mike and Mark work on pizza #2.

 Greg, Kathy, Bryan and Brian.

 Tim, Susan, Rob and Gina.

Pizza, wine, and a perfect end to a lazy Sunday at Il Villino.

  1. I'll take your homemade-in-an-authentic-brick-pizza-oven pizza over frozen Red Baron any day. So what were the toppings? Prosciutto e Funghi, italian sausage, garlic, artichoke hearts? I'm getting hungry!

    1. Debra, we had all those toppings. Truth be told, by the time the pizzas started coming out of the oven, we were all so hungry we just snarfed them without a thought of taking a picture. By the time I remembered the camera, all that was left were a few scraps of crusts!
