We slept late again and after breakfast, we walked around
the area near our hotel, this time finding more upscale shops on Calle de
Fuencarral. After some more people watching, we headed to the airport for our
flight to Rome on Iberia.
In Rome, we were met by a private car (same price as a taxi)
for the 30-minute ride to our hotel. Best 40E we ever spent.
Hotel Cavallieri Waldorf Astoria would be our home for our
3-night Rome adventure. The Cavillieri is a lovely modern hotel near the
Vatican.
Entrance to the Rome Cavalierri Hotel.
Tim and the dolphin fountain at the hotel entrance.
Lobby of the Cavalierri.
Terrace bar.
The hotel pool.
View of Rome from the Hotel Cavalierri.
The Vatican and the Dome of St. Peter in the distance. We will be there tomorrow.
After a shower, some wine at the pool bar.
For an Italian vacation, some Italian espadrilles!
Our friends from Dallas, Mike and Brian, joined us for a glass of wine. They were tired from touring the coliseum and parts of the old city. Off to bed, and tomorrow--the Vatican tour.
